…and we happen to be in love with her husband Ty. He is doing an amazing job.

Jewel took to her blog today and as usual, we love what she has to say.

Well, I left Ty this Saturday and flew to Florida - West Palm Beach. It’s so pretty here! I love the tropical weather, and the humidity is so good for skin and vocal chords. Love it! I could move to a place like this. Wouldn’t it be fun to have a beach hut on some beach somewhere? I’d never see it, though. I never even see my primary home, much less likely that I’d ever see a second one! I could kind of see myself living anywhere in the world. I’d like the south of France for a bit to write a few months, or Lake Como in Italy, or Spain is just lovely, and I adore Octovia Paz’s writing… And Australia! I could live there easily. It’s so pretty and diverse and such great people. I could disappear in so many countries. I love experiencing and seeing new things, tasting new food and absorbing information about different ways of living and thinking. To read more, click here!

Jewel got all fancy in LA, hitting up hotspot Chateau Marmont with awesome photographer Matthew Rolston.

Friday night, 7pm- Just sitting at the trendy Chateau Marmont waiting for a friend, Matthew Rolston, for dinner. He shot my first Rolling Stone cover, my Spirit CD cover, and he shot my videos for “Foolish Games” and “Jupiter” (one of my favorite never seen videos!) and “Again and Again.” Gosh- he’s the only director/photographer I have gone back to multiple times I think, because he makes me feel beautiful! He also shot the hair color commercial I did with Beyonce, if any of you remember that. He always makes me feel like I have perfect teeth and a tiny nose! Haha! And I also like him because he is kind and has a calm and quiet temperament. Some photographers are hysterical and high strung divas, and that makes the day seem a lot longer and more painful than it is. I have never really enjoyed photo or video shoots. I have always been kind of self-conscious having all that focus on me all day long. It’s a bizarre process that really took me years to get used to. He and his partner Ted just got here, so I’m signing off. To read about the rest of my weekend, click here!

We are often amazed with Jewel. She has always been a grounded woman, living her life out of the eyes of the paparazzi. She is currently living in LA while hubby Ty Murray continues to compete on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ and she has shared with her fans her thoughts on fame. Jewel has a got a great head on her shoulders (and an adorable hubby at her side)

I often get asked about fame. Fame is an unfathomable creature that shifts shape, and one becomes even more aware of the mythical creature Fame when in LA. Many people want to be famous here.

Here is what I have learned: Fame does not exist except in the minds of people. It is not real. It’s like the Easter Bunny, or Disneyland. It is not a real thing. It is not a tree or air or bread. It is a fantasy that is created and built on clouds in our collective minds. I guess mostly it reminds me of high school; everyone wants to be liked and popular. The difference with celebrity is that there is money to be made at this, and there is an entire industry built around manufacturing, selling and creating the illusion of celebrity.

I have always felt like an outsider- even in school. I have always been shy and introverted and watched the ‘cool’ kids, and I wrote about everything I saw. It shocked me that these writings led me to fame.

Ty and I often talk about success, and have categorized famous people in two groups. One group is made of those who wanted to be excellent at their craft, and by being excellent became successful or famous as a side effect. For this group, being good at their craft was the goal. For the other group, fame is the destination, and they simply see music or sports, or whatever, as their vehicle to fame. When you meet someone, you can instantly see which of the two groups they fall in. To read more, click here.

Sadly, Jewel had to pull out of DWTS right before the start of the show, but she is being such a trooper; supporting her hubby Ty Murray and all of the contestants. Check out her blogging below…she’s so cute!

Well, what a night! When I saw Chelsie’s heel get caught in her gown and go down I though “no!” And then Ty stumbled later in the routine and I thought “no, no!” They had killed it in dress rehearsal, so it was scary seeing it not go as well for the show!
The neat thing about this show is that everyone has such different backgrounds, and that’s what makes it fun to watch. Melissa obviously had a lot of training before she came to the show and Shawn as well- and it shows in their performances as they are really great dancers and amazing to watch. Shawn is just the cutest on and off stage- just a great girl!!  The neat thing for me is seeing someone like Ty, Lawrence Taylor or Steve-O who have no dance background, and watch them struggle to learn. It’s obviously a different learning curve than for the ones who have had the benefit of memorizing routines and moving their bodies’ prior to the show. It’s also neat to watch Melissa and Shawn be so graceful, and learn ballroom technique and do such challenging routines with such composure. It’s fun as a fan to be able to watch all the different types of abilities and backgrounds. I am having fun being around them all! To read more, be sure to go to my site by clicking here!

We hate that Jewel was unable to perform on DWTS this season, however, we are absolutly in LOVE with her husband Ty Murray. He strikes us as such a good country boy trying his hardest to be good at dancing, and he’s proving to have quite the good moves.  He gave a very good performance last night and even stayed calm when partner Chelsea Hightower slipped on the floor. We hope he sticks around for a while!

Check out his moves below. Who is your favorite couple so far?

Turns out Jewel is BFF with Perez Hilton. Apparently, Perez saw at a show of hers years and years ago a small club in Miami and saved the ticket stub and pictures. Check out the post below.

Well, dinner was good- we ate at Nobu and it was delicious! I’m a food fan, and my favorite things on the menu are the new style Kobe beef and the yellow tail with jalapeño- man, so good!

The party was what you would expect- a red carpet where I got to get the word out about my album, and Ty got to talk about the show. When we stepped inside, it wasn’t too full and I got to talk with Perez a bit- yeah, I know we seem like odd friends! Perez first saw me when I was about 19 or 20 and he was 16 or 17, when I sang in a tiny club in Miami. He loved my music so much, he saved the ticket stub and pictures he took that night, and he put them in his scrapbook. He saved it all these years, and last year he took me aside and showed me the scrapbook- and there were these old pictures of me he took from the audience and the ticket stub!!!! So sweet! He likes real music and values and supports people who try to be original. He hates, well, the opposite- and I guess he has found a way to make a living at it! But as a friend, he is really kind and supportive. I also really have an affinity for people who have struggled through hard times and have overcome them. I guess I see myself as a kind of misfit that has fought through things to persevere, and I identify with people who do that, too. It was cute that night at the club- he was wearing a tour t-shirt of mine from ‘95 or ‘96! Click here to read more and see pictures from our night!

You can now pre-order Jewels new cd, Lullaby. The album includes 11 original Lullabys so all you new moms out there definitely need to get this.

Be sure to tune in to the Dancing With The Stars results show next Tuesday night to catch Jewel performing.

Sadly, Jewel won’t be performing tonight but that didn’t stop her from blogging about her experience with her hubby and temporarily moving to LA.

Well, I’m in LA- getting moved into the apartment the show gave us to live in while we are here for the show.  It’s a nice place, and I will spend the day buying supplies to get us set up here- laundry detergent and groceries and stuff. It was strange leaving Texas, not knowing if we would be in LA for only 2 weeks, or 2 months- it all depends on how far Ty makes it on the show! I hope he makes it to the end, for 2 reasons- because I want to see him do well, first of all. He has been working so hard and I’m so proud of him! Of all the contestants, I think he is the most outside his comfort zone. For a quiet cowboy to do such an outgoing, public and “metro” thing is amazing! A lot of his fellow cowboy friends are coming in to support him, so look for cowboy hats in the audience!

Jewel and Ty Murray took a break from being the students and invited their dancing partners, Dmitry and Chelsea out to their ranch for a little ‘Redneck Olympics’. Jewel describes it on her myspace page as “horse riding, target shooting, four-wheel riding, fishing and eating BBQ”.

Hopefully this won’t keep her from performing on Dancing With The Stars. Jewel has tendonitis in her knees and won’t be able practice for the next couple of days.

Good luck Jewel!

Well, I feel kinda bummed today.
I guess I really over did it on the rehearsal front! My knees have been hurting so badly that I finally broke down and talked to Ty’s knee doctor yesterday. He said I have tendonitis in my knees and that I have to start a course of medicine to try and bring the swelling down.  Yuck! It’s mainly my left knee, and I can’t believe I hurt it so badly… Ty warned me I was over doing it, and now he got a big ol’ ‘I told you so’ in.  The worst part is that I can’t rehearse for the next couple days. It was just so fun to dance 8 hours a day- especially considering I only had 3 weeks to cram not only for my first dance- cha cha, but to learn the fundamentals of about 6 other dances that I will have to know. But now I’m just worried I won’t even be able to dance! Hopefully these steroids will really do the trick and I can keep bad flare ups at a bay in the future. To read more, visit www.jeweljk.com
